I know. I was thinking the same thing. I just kept wondering what would happen if I could help them someehow. Or maybe if someone had stopped them on the plane. I sort of wished I was on one of the planes just so I could take out one of the terroists, possibly stopping them.

I feel horrible and yet I have not cried. It still has not sank in fully I guess. I know people are dead, thousands of them and we are hit hard and now we are going into war, with the result being more death and yet It's still not sunk in, like this is a dream that will end or a movie that will eventually have a happy ending. And in the back of my mind I know it will only get worse. Being very religious I take this act as a sign of the end of this system of things which in turn makes me somewhat happy. It's weird but this means that soon all the bad things will end forever and there will be no more death. But first it will only get worse which is what scares me most.

Well, I think we can all agree on some things, regarding this situation.
(and just to make KC smile I'll use an analogy that will put us back on topic.)

The reason why this act was so terrible has nothing to do with the motives behind it.

Just like Magneto and Professor X had similar goals, the difference is how one chooses to achieve these ends.

This wasn't "an attack on freedom and liberty" just because it was America that was hit. It was an act of mass, undiscriminating, murder.

Instead of presenting whatever point he was trying to make through any of the means he obviously has. He anonymously killed thousands of living, thinking idividuals that he'd never met.

Not only were american businessmen killed, the people flying in those planes were killed, tourists were killed, many hundreds of business people from other countries were killed, and many rescue workers were killed.

I still don't want anyone to go to war. I just want whoever's responisble stopped so he can't hurt any more people.

Again, Knight_Crawler, you are the voice of reason, and you have an accurate perception of the situation at hand. As far as perhaps sounding "hostile" in any earlier posts, that was certainly not my intention, but I am VERY frustrated by the way this government shelters it's citizens from it's activities, as well as that public's participation in it's own manipulation. I think that this board is great, most of the people here are nice and friendly and intelligent and interseting. I want to enlighten, not to attack anybody. I do try to do it in a diplomatic way, but when genocide is the agenda, (and ultimately, that's what it's coming down to) I have a hard time being gentle. I should be posting about the candlelight vigils and mourning in Afgahanistan and the praying and mourning in Pakistan more often, though. The last Palestinian protest against Israeli invasion had many people holding up signs of support and sympathy for the US in the aftermath of terrorism. That should put some good energy and imagery back out there!

Hey Fasheem And Spats, yeah I kinda realized later that what I stated was the official stand of the US and not the Actual. The government always kinda intervenes when it fells it's interest are threatened abroad, whether wrong or right.

KC, I understand what you where saying about the "Attack on Freedom". But the attack was agaisn't us the USA. And we are suppose to stand for freedom. But the targets that were hit and those they have been talking about lately where government and economic centers of our country.

I am still in a bit of a daze. I have heard many reasons for the attack of late, getting America's attention to affairs of the middle East, Retalitation for America's foreign policies, but what if it is just one man, who is pissed off at America and has enough money to do something.

Hey folks, I want everyone with a hotmail account to be on the lookout for an email with this subject "How you can help WTC victims. (BTW: Anti-spammers Support Bin Laden!)" This is a scam to steal your credit card number. Don't repond to it. Delete it if you like or complain to MSN about it.

Well, I had to write a poem for our Creative Writing class about the tragedy, and I just thought I'd share it with everyone.
    A Thousand Lives

An iron bird crashed into a house of glass.
A nation watched in horror as the flames,
    Rose high, consumed the sky,
And the poor lives of the slain.

As a thousand lives were lost.

    A blood stain on a nation?s soul,
    Tearful eyes filled with pain.
    All the sacrifices made.
All hope is consumed by flame.

And a thousand lives were lost.

I cried as I watched our heroes,
    Fire fighters, trying to save,
And have their courage and life be lost,
As the building began to cave.

    Another thousand lives are lost.

What ways are there to understand,
    The horror and the pain?
And where will we all turn to,
When there?s no one left to blame?

For the thousand lives that are lost.

What ways are there to comprehend
    The value of a soul?
How a single act of hate
    Demands a heavy toll.

    The thousand lives were lost.

    Mayhem is no solution,
    Murder leaves no choice.
They never got to say goodbye
    They lost their final voice.

The thousand lives that were lost.

    Death is a horizon
Just because we can not see,
What lies upon the other side?
Doesn?t mean there?s nothing to be.

For the thousand lives that were lost.

    Look to the future
    Our hope can be bright
    Don?t give in to anger
    Remember to see the light.

For a thousand lives have been spared.

    Hope you like

    Unhappy

Just want to clarify what I meant. We have to kill the people who are doing their best to kill us. Not the innocents of those areas or their neihboring nations.
I am a fan of Punisher, but I would not condone what he does if he was real. However the people that he kill are evil. How many lives would not have been taken by the Joker if Batman had permantely removed him years ago thru personal incarsiration (the Batcave has pleanty of room to lock the guy up) or thru death. He did try to kill the Joker after Jason Todd was murdered.
I wish that I could remember exactly what I typed before (I really need to start proof reading better), but for anyone who believes me intolerant from some heated coments that I have made, just check my earlier post or go to "Stranger than Paradise" or "Stranger in Paradise", I may have stated myself better there. It has been a very scary time and some of us (myself included) are reacting more from emotion then acting with logic. Now that a little time has passed lets hope that we are coming back to our sences. Make no mistake, war is inivetable now, no matter how much we wish it wasnt.

I think this war is going to be mostly on the intellegence front. To break up this network of terrorists will probably take a lot of CIA secret stuff and it will probably take years. Our troups may have to occupy parts of Afganistan, most likely the Northern region where there are rebels against the Taliban who'll side with us. But I kinda doubt we'll see a lot of fighting ala Desert Storm.

The fact is the front lines are right here in the States. The FBI has to track down these terrorists who are living here and mean us harm. I'm worried about more attacks, with different means. They could try stuff like bombs in buses, or releasing biological crap into our subways.
